The Sociedad Española de Otorrinolaringología y Cirugía de Cabeza y Cuello (SEORL-CCC) will hold the 70th National Congress, which will take place from October 3 to October 6 2019 in Santiago de Compostela. In the extensive scientific programme, which will include keynote lectures, courses and workshops, as well as live dissections, special room has been made for the committees that form part of SEORL-CCC. In this section, called “The Time of the Committees” members will review the work done and launch new projects.
All the meetings will take place on Thursday, October 3 at 4 p.m. Below, details on each of them and the place where they will be held are provided.
10/03/2019 – 16:00-17:00 – Santiago Head and Neck and Skull Base Committee. Santiago
The objective of this meeting is to look into all the work done by each working group of this committee. Also, the goal is to make these groups public in order to foster collaboration among members and to promote the V Spring Meeting, which will take place in Valencia in 2020. The hot topics of the meeting are the multidisciplinary approach to head and neck surgery, as well as the application of transoral surgery in head and neck surgery.
Otoneurology Committee. Compostela
The Otoneurology Committee wants to make use of this session to manage the organization of the Winter Meeting on Otoneurology, which will be held on November 29 and 30 this year in Madrid.
Rhinology, alergy and anterior skull base Committee Obradoiro.
This committee invites the rest of the members interested in rhinology to participate in its lines of work with the aim of advancing the basic and clinical aspects of the committee.
The committee has been divided into four working groups:
1. Working group on chronic rhinosinusitis, endoscopic transnasal dacryocystorhinostomy and orbit (Dr. Isam Alobid)
2. 2. Working group on functional rhinoseptoplasty (Dr. Rafael Fernández Liesa)
3. 3. Working group on rhinitis, rhynopathy and asthma (Dr. Alfonso Del Cuvillo Bernal)
4. 4. Working group on anterior skull base surgery (Dr. José Miguel Villacampa)
During the meeting, a presentation will be given explaining in detail the objectives and projects of these working groups.
Laryngology Committee. Peregrino.
This meeting will provide the basis for the drafting of a case study on dysphagia.
Otology Committee. Rosalía.
A checklist of the CT of the petrous part of the temporal bone will be made to learn the most important points and to review this imaging tool before surgery. Another objective is to draft a document on the basic rules when doing an MRI scan of a patient with hearing aids. Furthermore, a survey on facial paralysis intended for SEORL-CCC members and family doctors will be made.
Facial Plastic Surgery Committee. Arcade.
The topics to be addressed at the meeting of this committee will include the new aspects that must be taken into account in connection with aesthetic rhinoplasty, botox and fillers, as well as how to train in facial plastic surgery.
Audiology Committee. Catedrales.
During the meeting, two working groups will be set up to draft two articles for the Acta Otorrinolaringológica Española journal: an update on “Unilateral Hearing Loss” and “Hearing loss in children with congenital cytomegalovirus”.
Snoring and Sleep Disorders Committe . Trives.
The objective of this meeting is to present a SAHS multicentre database and explore the possibility of conducting multicentre studies related to SAHS surgery. Thus, the committee wants to make itself known to those interested in collaborating.
